UNIVERSITY OF DELAWARE CAREER FAIRS & MEETUPS

 

The Career Center offers a variety of career fairs and meetups throughout the academic year. We offer boutique events based on our industry focused communities to bring talented Blue Hens and employers together. Most events are open to all matriculated UD students and alumni. University of Delaware Involvement Fair - August 26, 2019

INVOLVEMENT FAIR

AUGUST 26, 2019 • 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM

The Career Center has partnered with University Student Centers to provide up to 65 UD departments and offices with table space at the Involvement Fair to recruit students for campus jobs!  All offices will be located in one section of the fair and will have the opportunity to interact with hundreds of UD students.

Students will come to you looking for on-campus jobs, so please prepare to share any supporting information about your positions (required hours, pay rate, skills needed, whether you hire regular was and/or work-study eligible students, location of office on campus, etc.).  Office/college branding and giveaways are welcome!

On-campus employment will be located in section 10 of the Involvement Fair; which is on the Central Green in front of Evans Hall.

Event participation is free. Departments must register to secure a table at the fair by August 1, 2019.  We will try to accommodate late registration request - dependent on availability.

The Involvement Fair is open to ALL UD undergraduate and graduate students! 

Students who are interested in finding on-campus employment should come visit us on the Green in front of Evans Hall at the Involvement Fair.  UD departments looking to hire students will be available to share information on their current job openings.

Meet the Firms is designed to help employers interact with undergraduate and graduate students from all majors and degrees pursuing full-time positions and internships in financial services, banking, accounting and information systems.

Fall Career & Internship Fairs

Fall Career & Internship Fairs

SEPTEMBER 12, 2019 • 3:00 PM - 6:30 PM

Two fairs - one day! The Engineering, Science & Technology Fair and the All Majors Fair will connect employers with over 2,000 University of Delaware undergraduate students, graduate students and alumni to discuss full-time, part-time, and internship opportunities from a wide variety of fields. 

We will ask you to choose one fair location - but don't worry, you will be able to advertise by major, career community and with the available opportunities listed within Handshake to reach all attending students! The fairs are only separated by a small hallway which will allow students to easily access both fairs!

Schedule:

3:00pm – 3:30pm: Seniors & Grad Student Only Power Half Hour – Get early access to students seeking full-time positions!  

3:30pm – 6:30pm: Engineering & Technology Fair & All Majors Fair for all students and alumni

Note: Students are encouraged to dress for the job they want – no professional attire required - to increase attendance between classes and include students who may not have yet purchased a suit.

Parking Map & Information - PLEASE DO NOT drive directly to The Little Bob - Parking IS NOT available on site! A parking location will be sent out closer to the event date. Shuttles will be offering continuous shuttle service to The Little Bob. Please allow extra travel time to include shuttle transportation between the venues. You do not need a parking pass to park. You are welcome to drop off your packages at The Little Bob before parking your vehicle.


Shuttles will run continuously and will be available approximately every 10 minutes.

Biotechnology & Biomedical Career Fair

biotechnology & biomedical career fair

OCTOBER 2, 2019 • 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM

The Biotechnology & Biomedical Career Fair will allow you to connect with UD students interested in careers, internships and research opportunities in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, life sciences and biomedical engineering!

A poster session will be held from 5:00pm - 6:00pm, directly preceding to the fair. During this poster session, employers will have a chance to listen to brief summaries of select students' research in the areas of biomedical engineering and biotechnology.

Employers are encouraged to bring UD alumni that are currently working in their organization.

Top Majors Attending Include: Biomedical Engineering, Biological Sciences, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, and Medical Laboratory Sciences.

Wealth Management Networking Night

wEALTH MANAGEMENT NETWORKING NIGHT

The Wealth Management Networking Night is open to employers interested in hiring students working in a financial planning or wealth management role within your organization.

Students will have the opportunity to go around to different tables in the Atrium and interact with the employers and learn about financial planning and wealth management career and internship paths and applying for jobs. Employers will be provided one high top table with their company name.

We ask that you limit your giveaways and handouts in order to maximize the networking.

Law School Fair

Each year UD students attend from a variety of disciplines looking to pursue a legal education that best fits their personality and career aspirations.

This fair affords your institution the chance to interact with these well-rounded, talented students.

This far is also open to surrounding universities and colleges to offer the widest variety of Delaware talent.

If you RSVP for the shuttle bus to the Philadelphia Law School Fair and do NOT end up taking the bus without cancelling your seat, you will be charged the cost of your seat. If you need to cancel, please email Amy Rees at amyrees@udel.edu NO LATER THAN Wednesday, October 2nd, 2019 at 5:00pm.

Parking Map & Information - parking is available at the Bob Carpenter Center Parking Lot (look for the brightly colored directional signs). 631 S. College Avenue, Newark, DE 19716. You do not need a parking permit or tag to use the lot. The shuttle bus will run on a continuous loop and will be available approximately every 10 minutes to transport you to the event.

You are invited to join us for a night of etiquette, networking and food with UD students!


Co-Sponsored by the Career Center, Center for Black Culture, College of Engineering RISE Program and Office of Student Diversity & Inclusion.

You will have the opportunity to dine with students, share information about your company and help students develop their networking skills.

The evening includes a three course meal with dessert and coffee. Employers will also receive a high-top table to network with all students in attendance over dessert.

Fashion Career Meetup

Fashion Career Meetup

The Fashion Career Meetup allows you to network with top students seeking job and internship opportunities!

The program will start off with an employer panel coordinated by the Department of Fashion and Apparel Studies.

Following the panel, you will have an opportunity to interact with the students. Employers will be provided one high top table with their company name. We ask that you limit your giveaways and handouts in order to maximize the networking - bring plenty of business cards!

 

Reminder - there are approximately 275+ students in attendance, please make sure to bring a sufficient number of representatives to speak with all interested students. We also encourage you to speak with students in small groups versus one on one. This will ensure you have the opportunity to see as many students as possible in the allotted time!

Education Meetup

An evening to meet and network informally with undergraduate and graduate students - - both those who are just beginning to explore the possibilities of a career in education, as well as students who will graduate soon and hope to learn about current or anticipated vacancies.  Help support the profession - - encourage undecided students to consider education majors, choose careers in K-12 education, and pursue job opportunities in this industry!

Employers are welcome to bring UD alumni working in your schools/districts to talk with students about their experiences.  

Due to the increasing high demand for educators and the continued decline of students choosing teacher education majors, this event is restricted to public school districts, private and charter schools who serve K-12 students (i.e. require certified teachers). Types of organizations not appropriate for this event include staffing or substitute agencies, tutoring services, nonprofit/recreational programs, and summer camps.

Speer Networking for First Year Students

SPEED NETWORKING FOR FIRST YEAR BUSINESS STUDENTS

NOVEMBER 6 & 7, 2019 • 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM

The Lerner College of Business is looking for employers to connect with every first year student in business for a Speed Networking event. Each employer will be responsible for giving tips and guidance about a professional development topic (i.e. interviewing, networking, how to dress for an interview, etc.) at their table. There will be approximately 40 tables and each table will hold 10 students. Employer reps will rotate every 8-10 minutes over the course of 2 hours teaching students about different professional development topics.

There will be approximately 300-400 first year Lerner students on each date. You can sign up for 1 or both days.

Each employer can have a maximum of 4 representatives onsite for their registered day. PLEASE DO NOT bring banners, flyers or any other materials. A list of students and employer reps will be emailed out after the event.

Once you register, Jill Gugino Pante, Director of Lerner Career Services, will follow up with employers to assign a professional development topic and provide additional details of the day.
