What’s special about this program?
Communicative Language Teaching in campus classrooms develops our candidates’ proficiency early on. Real-world cultural experiences and language study on-site in three- and five-week intersession courses and in full-semester programs build cultural proficiency. Complementary minors are available (Linguistics, Urban Education, Women’s Studies, Comparative Literature, European Studies and Political Science to name a few) and are popular add-ons to the major. A series of field experiences prepares students for successful student teaching. And one-on-on mentoring of student teachers by a UD Field Instructor and classroom clinical educator ensure success in teaching. Interested in research? There are opportunities for undergraduates to conduct research with French professors. Want to teach before your student teaching placement? Become an undergraduate teaching assistant under the tutelage of an experienced instructor. And of course, study abroad!
