Jin Yao Kwan will present in the Department of Human Development and Family Sciences’ series

Join University of Delaware’s College of Education and Human Development (CEHD) for a colloquium with Jin Yao Kwan, assistant professor in the Department of Human Development and Family Sciences (HDFS), from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 16, in room 220 of Alison Hall.

Kwan’s research focuses on the development of adolescents, youth and young adults in underserved communities. He explores how families and communities use institutional supports and examines structural factors and contextual processes that perpetuate poverty and inequality. With a dedication to open access materials and an engaging teaching approach, Kwan teaches courses on human development, research methods and program evaluation in HDFS. He received the UD Faculty Senate Excellence in Teaching Award in 2025.

Kwan’s colloquium, titled “The Take-Home Assignment is Dead; Long Live the Assignment: Reflections on Teaching and Learning in the Age of Generative AI,” will explore teaching and learning in light of AI’s increasing presence in our society.

The colloquium, part of a year-long series hosted by HDFS, is free and open to the public, but advance registration is appreciated. To register, visit: http://www.udel.edu/0015095.
