Happy news

The fall issue of UD Magazine is hitting mailboxes now
C’mon, get happy.
The latest issue of UD Magazine, hitting mailboxes now, explores all the ways Blue Hens have taken that mandate to heart.
A feature package breaks down the science-backed ways to boost happiness, from nurturing relationships to helping others to… playing (yes, adults need playtime, too.). And the stories introduce readers to some of UD’s happiest graduates, like the intrepid, bow tie-wearing Blue Hens who started a barbershop quartet in the 1970s, or the alumnus who coordinates once-in-a-lifetime trips around the globe. (Ask him about eating reindeer tongue in Sweden or cooking pasta in Italy.)
If your newsfeed isn’t exactly a feel-good place, there’s also a palate cleanser: happy headlines from Blue Hen researchers: wild robots, cleaner energy and musical tech for children with autism, to name a few.
Elsewhere in the issue are other reasons to smile. UD has launched the nation’s first master’s program in quantitative systems pharmacology, meaning Blue Hens are working to make drug development more efficient and cost-effective. And the new Neil Book School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship is nurturing the next generation of changemakers looking to make life just a little bit better. Plus:
There’s a giant Blue Hen on campus (and no, we’re not talking about a new football recruit)
Two alumni protected the safety of astronauts on the first crewed trip around the moon in more than 50 years.
The University is tied for the greatest number of undergraduates to receive a Goldwater Scholarship in the country.
The UD Chorale is taking the world by storm (and by stage).
But, wait! What about athletics news? We’ve got that, too. Shout-out to a record-breaking year for achievement on and off the field.
Check your mail for more reasons to get happy, or explore the issue online — and thanks for reading.
