Pulse Survey to measure faculty and staff thriving
May 05, 2026
Results to be compared to national norms
As part of an ongoing commitment to faculty and staff well-being, the University of Delaware is working with researchers to survey all employees this spring and then annually about their degree of thriving in their work.
The University is working with The Thriving Project, a group of researchers in southern California that has been studying staff thriving since 2017. The Pulse Survey is adapted from the Thriving Project’s Thriving Quotient, a reliable and valid instrument that has been administered to thousands of people in over 100 institutions. The Thriving Project will handle all the data collection and analysis.
Responses will be confidential. UD will only receive de-identified data and a report that compares UD to national norms.
The results of this survey will serve as a baseline for comparisons annually. Dr. Laurie Schreiner, creator of the Thriving Quotient, will also come to campus in the fall to present on the results to the community and to the Board of Trustees.
The email with the survey link will come from udel@qualtrics-research.com. The survey will take about 15 to 20 minutes to complete; it will remain open until Friday, May 15.
Respondents who choose to provide their email address at the end of the survey will be entered in a random drawing for $50 Amazon gift cards. All emails will be separated into a file that is only used for the prize drawings and is then deleted. No email addresses will remain as part of the database.
