UDIT Announces Second Annual Digital Spring Cleanup Challenge

Join UDIT April 7-9 for a three-day challenge to declutter devices and build better data habits

University of Delaware Information Technologies (UDIT) is launching the second annual Digital Spring Cleanup Challenge, a three-day initiative running Tuesday, April 7, through Thursday, April 9, that encourages the campus community to take a more intentional approach to managing digital information.

Rather than focusing solely on deleting data, this year’s challenge emphasizes evaluating what digital content is actively used, what should be retained and what no longer serves a purpose. The goal is to promote better digital habits that support efficiency, security and sustainability across personal devices, email and cloud-based tools.

Each day of the challenge highlights a different area of digital life. Participants are encouraged to review personal and cloud storage, clean up email inboxes and subscriptions, and reassess apps and content on mobile devices. The challenge also acknowledges newer digital tools, including AI-based services, and encourages users to treat one-time outputs and unused conversations with the same discernment as other digital records.

While individual actions may seem small, collectively they help reduce unnecessary storage, improve device performance and foster more responsible data practices at the University.

Step-by-step guidance and resources for each day of the challenge are available on the Digital Spring Cleanup Challenge website at sites.udel.edu/digital-spring-cleanup
