The University of Delaware will return to standard operations Tuesday, Feb. 24, effective at 12:01 a.m.
In-person instruction at the Newark campus will be conducted Tuesday, as scheduled. Flexibility is appreciated, as we prioritize the safety and well-being of our students and faculty while ensuring academic continuity. Instructors have the discretion to move to a different format as appropriate.
University staff should report to work Tuesday, as scheduled. With prioritization of safety and personal circumstances, non-essential staff should use discretion and consult with their supervisor for flexibility or telework arrangements, as needed.
Transportation services will be available Tuesday, as scheduled. Monitor the Transportation website or Shuttle app for updates.
Dining halls will operate Tuesday on their standard schedules. For additional information, including hours of operation at retail locations, visit the Dining Services website or the Instagram account for UD Dining Services.
Other UD campuses and areas
UD’s Lewes campus and the Paradee Center in Dover will suspend operations Tuesday, with only essential personnel reporting to work as scheduled. (These locations will return to normal operations Wednesday.)
The Carvel Center in Georgetown will be open on Tuesday.
All Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) locations will suspend operations and academic instruction Tuesday. Full-time staff will work remotely.
Associate in Arts Program (AAP) classes in Wilmington will return to standard operations on Tuesday. Leadership at Dover and Georgetown campuses will communicate guidance regarding AAP classes at their sites.
The University will continue to monitor conditions at UD’s other campuses and areas, and administrative staff there will provide updates to their respective populations, as appropriate.
Schedule updates
Student Wellbeing, Student Health Services, the Carpenter Sports Building (Little Bob); UD’s Rust and Gold ice arenas; Morris Library; the Student Centers; the Wellbeing Center at Warner Hall; Clayton Hall; and the UD Barnes & Noble Bookstore will commence normal operations on Tuesday.
Information about any additional closings or schedule changes will be posted on UDaily.
Personal safety
Safety is UD’s highest priority. Faculty, staff and students should not put themselves at risk, and employees who expect difficulty traveling should contact their supervisors. Overnight temperatures will be below freezing; these temperatures may create slick driving and walking conditions, as melted snow and ice could re-freeze after sunset. Exercise caution.
Stay up to date on the University’s winter weather procedures.
Review the University’s extreme weather and emergency conditions policy.
Read more about Delaware’s current weather-related driving restrictions, which, as of Monday at 9:25 p.m., include a Level 2 Driving Ban in Kent and Sussex counties. Driving restrictions have been lifted in New Castle County.
Members of the University community are reminded to use caution while driving on or navigating campus.
