Open and Affordable Teaching Materials grant opportunities for faculty and staff, apply by April 24

University of Delaware faculty and instructors are invited to apply for the Open and Affordable Teaching Materials grant, offered by the UD Library, Museums and Press.

The program supports course material affordability while empowering instructors to enhance and transform their courses using open, free or existing Library-licensed materials.

The grants are designed to reduce the cost of course materials for students and to encourage innovative teaching practices through the adoption, adaptation or creation of open educational resources.

Four grants are available for individuals or a team to support a range of course sizes and instructional needs:

  • Transition grant, small enrollment course enrichment (fewer than 49 students): a $500 grant to incorporate open educational resources or Library-licensed materials into an existing course.
  • Transition grant, mid-sized enrollment courses (50 students or more): a $1,500 grant to integrate open or Library-licensed materials into their course.
  • Transition grant, large enrollment courses (150 students or more): a $5,000 grant to support the adoption of open or Library-licensed teaching materials.
  • Authoring an open educational resource grant: a $5,000 grant to create an open educational resource by altering, editing, or remixing existing materials and/or developing original content.

Interested faculty and instructors are encouraged to attend an upcoming information session on February 17 or March 18, and reach out to Jeanne Kambara, Open Education Librarian at jkambara@udel.edu for a consultation.

Proposals must be submitted by April 24, 2026.
