University reviewing vehicle fleet policies

New and replacement vehicle requests on hold during review

A new Fleet Vehicle Working Group has been established to examine the increased cost of the University of Delaware’s fleet and the need to reduce risk and improve operational efficiency of UD resources.

Carol Kissal, interim executive vice president of finance and administration, said the initiative will review the University’s policies regarding its vehicle fleet and develop a comprehensive risk management strategy for the fleet. The group will collect information about vehicles and their use from all units that have vehicles.

During the review process, requests for new or replacement vehicles are on a temporary hold, she said.

The working group is composed of representatives from the Provost’s Office; Emergency Management, Health and Safety; Risk Management; Parking and Transportation; Student Life; University Student Centers; and Athletics and Campus Recreation.
