2025 Foltyn Seminar scheduled for Sept. 29

Keynote speaker to discuss 'Preventive Power: Using Nudges and Incentives to Improve Health'

Attend this year's Foltyn Seminar featuring Kevin Volpp, MD, Ph.D., lightning talks, and a panel discussion on Monday, Sept. 29, from 3:30-5 p.m. in the Audion on STAR Campus.

This year’s keynote will focus on “Preventive Power: Using Nudges and Incentives to Improve Health.” Dr. Volpp will describe the underlying principles of behavioral economics, a relatively new field which has transformed our collective understanding of both how people make decisions and how to influence decisions. He will highlight some of the key approaches being used to improve health within the United States including a discussion of nudges, the use of incentives, and food is medicine as a potential paradigm shift. The presentation will describe a number of examples developed and tested in partnership with health systems, health plans, employers and other organizations to improve population health with a particular emphasis on Food is Medicine, given Dr. Volpp’s scientific leadership of the American Heart Association’s Health Care by Food initiative.
