Latest issue of UD Magazine spotlights Blue Hen journalists restoring faith in a hard-hit industry

In an age of slippery truths and fast-moving headlines, journalism remains one of democracy’s most vital — and most endangered — professions. The latest issue of UD Magazine, hitting mailboxes now, takes readers inside the fight to keep an embattled industry alive.

Blue Hen experts break down the erosion of public trust in media — and what you can do about it. (Spoiler alert: Subscribing to your local paper is an act of personal empowerment.) From newsroom innovators like Peter Bailey, Class of 2002, who are building new, community-centered models, to intrepid journalists like Morgan Winsor, Class of 2012, who recently wrapped war coverage in Gaza, Blue Hen alumni are proving that reporting goes beyond a job. This is a public service that instills hope and sparks change.

Elsewhere in the issue, UD’s Building X showcases Blue Hen researchers tackling some of the world’s most challenging questions — from dyslexia to dementia, anxiety to addiction. And in a nearby museum ranked among the best in the world by Smithsonian Magazine, paleontologist Kenneth Lacovara, doctoral alumnus from 1997, is bringing the past back to life, resurrecting dinosaurs with the same curiosity, rigor, and determination that defines UD research across the board.

If you haven’t received your copy of the issue, it may be due to recent updates to our distribution process. To be added or removed from the mailing list, please update your information at: https://www.udel.edu/alumni-friends/resources/update-your-information/
