Summer enrichment learning for age 50-plus

OLLI ‘Summer Selections’ classes start July 7, online and statewide

The UD community and the public are invited to register for summer classes at the University of Delaware’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI), July 7-31.

OLLI “Summer Selections” classes and activities take place in Dover, Lewes, Wilmington and online, covering a wide range of topics.

Delaware residence or past OLLI participation is not required, and the usual 50-plus age guideline is waived for adults of any age to participate in OLLI summer classes. Unlimited session participation for the four-week program is $125. Partial scholarships are available. Some courses and special events may require additional fees.

OLLI is a learning cooperative for adults 50 and over to socialize and take classes together with no grades or exams. This summer, the nearly 70 offerings include

  • Field trips — Fort Delaware and Pea Patch Island, Victrola Museum, Dover Motor Speedway, Historic New Castle, Delaware Art Museum, First State Heritage Park
  • Kent County classes — Raising the Flag at Iwo Jima; Herman Melville’s Bartleby, the Scrivener; Culinary Conversation with Chef Alex Neaton
  • New Castle County classes — Food and Wine Tasting 101; Family History Writing; BBQ: America’s Cuisine; Swedish Death Cleaning; Yoga; West Side Story; European Radicalism and Fascism
  • Sussex County classes — Lewes History Walks, Evolution of Comedy, Stained Glass, Basic Conversational Russian, Robert Frost Poetry, Argentine Tango, Tai Chi, History of Medicine, Coastal Concerts
  • Online classes — S.S. United States Ocean Liner; Memoir Writing; Songs of America; Spirituality of Jesus and Eckhart Tolle; Preparing and Selling Your Home for Maximum Profit, Historical Novels in Cultures
