Register for the Summer Institute on Teaching 2025
May 07, 2025
SIT is going back to the basics, with more than 25 sessions over two days.
The Summer Institute on Teaching (SIT) is an intensive and celebratory multi-day event that brings together educators from across the University of Delaware to build and strengthen a community around teaching and learning. The institute highlights emerging and established pedagogical practices, resources, and technology tools with an emphasis on evidence and scholarship. It also provides a showcase for the exceptional efforts and accomplishments of UD’s educators. This year’s theme for SIT is “Back to the Basics.”
SIT 2025 registration is now open and is required for in-person participation by May 20.
This summer’s institute will occur over two days:
- Wednesday, May 28, (online via Zoom) features opening remarks from Interim Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education and Dean of the Honors College Michael Chajes, four, hour-long blocks of concurrent sessions and concludes with “birds of a feather” sessions for faculty to discuss impacts of, and opportunities for, the use of AI in teaching and learning.
- Thursday, May 29, is the in-person portion of SIT 2025 on the UD campus in Newark (Pearson Hall then ISE Lab). This day will feature a keynote address from Claire Major, Distinguished Teaching Professor at the University of Alabama, entitled “Why the Best Teaching Isn’t Easy–And Shouldn’t Be.” Major will also lead a workshop during another full day of concurrent and a final themed birds of a feather session. Please note that light breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack are provided with advanced registration.
The event is free for all faculty, staff and graduate students at UD.
Please reach out to co-chairs Andrew Jenks (ajenks@udel.edu) and Charissa Powell (charissa@udel.edu) with questions.
