UD’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) program for adults age 50-plus is planning more than 300 spring classes in Dover, Lewes, Ocean View, Wilmington and online. The spring 2026 OLLI catalog showcases original artwork by Rick Croswell, reflecting the vibrant creativity of the OLLI community.

UD lifelong learning open houses set for Jan. 5-8

Community invited to visit OLLI locations in Dover, Lewes, Ocean View, Wilmington

The community is invited to learn about UD’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) by attending an open house in Lewes (Jan. 5), Wilmington (Jan. 6), Ocean View (Jan. 7) or Dover (Jan. 8).

As a volunteer-driven learning cooperative for adults age 50-plus, UD OLLI has over 3,000 members and holds classes throughout Delaware and online, with fun, learning and social opportunities, and no exams or grades.

Classes start Feb. 2 in subjects like:

  • Art — painting, photo editing, knitting
  • General interest — genealogy, current events, investing, AI, films, baseball
  • History — Hagley presentations, 1776, Apollo space suit, New Orleans, Rte. 66
  • Languages — American Sign Language, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Russian
  • Literature — James Joyce, Joan Didion, book club
  • Performance, music — rock band, orchestra, chorus, guitar, acting, magic
  • Science, nature — birding, Delaware Nature Society presentations, science of drug discovery
  • Wellness — yoga, tai chi, folk dance, hiking

The Jan. 5-8 open houses feature classroom tours and refreshments, with opportunities to meet volunteers and OLLI participants, and pick up a course catalog. In-person registration is available.

OLLI registration starts Jan. 5 and consists of a $260 semester membership fee, which includes unlimited classes at all UD OLLI locations and online. Delaware residence or prior OLLI membership is not required, and need-based financial assistance is available.

The community is also invited to sign up for OLLI’s “January Explorations” online mini-classes Jan. 13-23, which are free and open to the public. Topics include History of American Whiskey, Frontiers for Healthy Aging, Agatha Christie Literary Anniversary and more.
