UD PCS Project Management Certificate program starts Sept. 10
The University of Delaware’s Project Management Certificate is a 10-week, live-online course that builds key project management skills. Taught by industry expert Ryan Crawford, the program emphasizes real-world application and prepares participants for leading certifications.
Here are Crawford’s top ways project management can accelerate career growth:
1. Project managers become the go-to problem solvers.
They’re trained to handle complexity, manage risks and keep teams aligned.
Crawford explains, "It’s critical to understand the business context of your projects so you can better collaborate with teams, define problems, explore options and recommend solutions. This is where you bring real value."
2. Project managers gain cross-functional visibility.
Managing projects involves multiple departments and stakeholders, builds broad networks, deepens business insight and provides visibility with decision-makers.
"Often, projects span many areas within and between organizations. This visibility gives you valuable insights and highlights where you can continue to add value," Crawford said.
3. Project management opens doors to leadership roles.
Effective project managers signal to employers they’re ready to lead.
According to Crawford, "It’s an excellent opportunity to sharpen your skills in leading through influence. Even with formal authority, you should lead through influence first. It’s a great role to develop that skill."
Participants in UD’s Division of Professional and Continuing Studies (UD PCS) Project Management Certificate noncredit program gain practical tools, earn 35 contact hours and receive a digital badge upon completion.
