UD student-athletes post a collective 3.272 GPA for the fall 2023 semester

University of Delaware student-athletes continued to shine in the classroom after posting a collective 3.272 grade point average for the fall 2023 semester, marking the 20th consecutive semester that the department has tallied a GPA over 3.000.

"Our student-athletes continue to make us all proUD of the commitment they make in the classroom," said Chrissi Rawak, director of Athletics, Community, and Campus Recreation. "I'd also like to recognize our coaches and staff for continuing to champion and support our student-athletes in their academic endeavors."

Women's golf leads all teams with a 3.654 GPA, while men's golf is the top men's program with a 3.620. They are joined by women's soccer, men's tennis, women's lacrosse, track and field, men's swimming, men's lacrosse, rowing, field hockey, women's swimming, softball, baseball, women's tennis, volleyball, cross country, men's soccer, cheer, dance and mascot to achieve a 3.0 team GPA or better during fall 2023.

A total of 241 student-athletes landed on the Dean's List, surpassing last semester's 187. Adding to the semester's honors, 42 Blue Hens posted a perfect 4.0 semester.

Furthermore, Delaware posted stellar graduation success rates in the most recent cycle.

The NCAA calculates graduation rates over a six-year period. The most recent reports show data at the entering class of 2016 and investigating whether they graduated within six years of initial enrollment.

Delaware's overall six-year graduation rate was 86%, which is an increase of 7 percentage points from last year's cohort. This year's cohort is the first in 16 years to exceed the overall six-year graduation rate of the general UD student population.

The single year student-athlete graduation success rate also considers students who transfer in/out successfully. For the 2016 cohort, Delaware posted a 96% single-year graduation success rate, an increase of 7%.
