


UD faculty invited to lead Delaware Teachers Institute seminar

Content experts in various areas needed to teach K-12 educators
University of Delaware faculty members have an exciting opportunity to shape the future of K-12 education by applying to lead a seminar for the Delaware Teachers Institute (DTI) for the 2024-2025 academic year. In partnership with the Yale National Initiative (YNI), DTI is now accepting applications for Seminar Leaders who will inspire K-12 teachers and their students. Leaders will receive an $8,000 stipend.
Why lead a seminar? Leading a seminar offers UD faculty a chance to:
Enhance their teaching, scholarship, and service.
Make a meaningful contribution to K-12 education.
Seminar details:
Seminars will meet 12 times over six months, from October 2024 to March 2025.
Focus areas include a broad range of content areas requested by K-12 teachers.
Content areas requested by K-12 teachers:
Digital Storytelling: Creative Reading and Writing, Curating Your Identity, Animation & Video.
Ecology and Sustainability: Regeneration, Recycling and Upcycling, Deforestation and Mining.
Information Bias: Democracy & Citizenship, Climate Change & Sea Level Rise, Immigration & Asylum.
Math in the Real World: Building and Construction, Patterns in Nature, Problem Solving.
The DTI steering committee will also consider additional topics based on faculty interest.
How to apply: Interested faculty should send a 1-2 page proposal as a PDF to DTI Interim Director Jon Cox at joncox@udel.edu by Aug. 23 at 5 p.m. A proposal template is available online.
