Content experts in various areas needed to teach K-12 educators

University of Delaware faculty members have an exciting opportunity to shape the future of K-12 education by applying to lead a seminar for the Delaware Teachers Institute (DTI) for the 2024-2025 academic year. In partnership with the Yale National Initiative (YNI), DTI is now accepting applications for Seminar Leaders who will inspire K-12 teachers and their students. Leaders will receive an $8,000 stipend.

Why lead a seminar? Leading a seminar offers UD faculty a chance to:

  • Enhance their teaching, scholarship, and service.

  • Make a meaningful contribution to K-12 education.

Seminar details:

  • Seminars will meet 12 times over six months, from October 2024 to March 2025.

  • Focus areas include a broad range of content areas requested by K-12 teachers.

Content areas requested by K-12 teachers:

  • Digital Storytelling: Creative Reading and Writing, Curating Your Identity, Animation & Video.

  • Ecology and Sustainability: Regeneration, Recycling and Upcycling, Deforestation and Mining.

  • Information Bias: Democracy & Citizenship, Climate Change & Sea Level Rise, Immigration & Asylum.

  • Math in the Real World: Building and Construction, Patterns in Nature, Problem Solving.

The DTI steering committee will also consider additional topics based on faculty interest.

How to apply: Interested faculty should send a 1-2 page proposal as a PDF to DTI Interim Director Jon Cox at joncox@udel.edu by Aug. 23 at 5 p.m. A proposal template is available online.
