What is Walktober?
Walktober is a fun and motivating activity challenge that encourages individuals of all fitness levels to get moving. Whether you prefer leisurely strolls or brisk power walks, this challenge is designed for everyone. The goal is simple: accumulate as many steps as possible across six weeks, either on your own or as part of a team of 4-10 people.
Why Join Walktober?
Health Benefits: Walking is a low-impact exercise that can lead to significant health improvements, from increased cardiovascular fitness to reduced stress levels.
Community and Camaraderie: Joining the Walktober Challenge connects you with a community of UD participants through the Walktober app and its “Walking Wall” message board where you can share tips, photos and inspiration.
Flexibility: You can walk almost anywhere, with no extra equipment, at your own pace. Plus, you can use the Walktober app to convert activities like swimming, strength training, and yoga into steps to count toward your goals.
How to Register: Registering for Walktober is a breeze. Visit our registration page [https://udhr.walktober.com/#/welcome], select “register” and use your UD email address to sign-up. Participation is open to faculty, staff, retirees and household members age 13 and over at no cost (and no wellness dollars required.) Don't miss this fantastic opportunity to boost your fitness, connect with others, and embrace a healthier lifestyle. The challenge starts on Sept. 18 and registration closes on Sept. 24.
