UD beachside event May 23-26 features social activities and educational programming
The University of Delaware’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) will host UD by the Sea, an educational and social event in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, May 23-26.
Designed by OLLI members, the event is open to former and current OLLI members, the UD community and the public.
UD by the Sea combines social activities with diverse educational tracks featuring guest speakers and UD experts. Opportunities to join these tracks are available:
• The Arts in Delaware — Presenters from theater to creative arts, including the director of the Biggs Museum of American Art, discuss the arts across Delaware. Includes tours of Rehoboth Art League and Clear Space Theatre Company.
• U.S. Foreign Affairs — High-profile experts from U.S. government, academia and other organizations discuss current issues in international affairs.
• Dela-Where? — Engaging speakers address what makes Delaware unique in culture, history, environment, government and more.
This popular event has been well received by prior attendees, one participant calling it “beyond awesome,” adding “the speakers were super and the whole program was very well organized!”
UD by the Sea 2023, sponsored in part by Slam Dunk to the Beach and Lynn Robinson of Berkshire Hathaway Fox & Roach, takes place at the Atlantic Sands Hotel and Conference Center. The $175-$200 fee includes educational programming, reception, specified meals and social activities. Participants are responsible for accommodations.
UD’s OLLI program is a learning cooperative for adults 50 and over to take and teach classes together with no grades, exams or educational prerequisites. Each semester, over 300 courses are offered online and on-site in Wilmington, Dover, Lewes and Ocean View.
