UD’s migration to Webex nearly complete

5,119 phones have been migrated to Webex so far

As of Feb. 14, 2023, UD Information Technologies (UDIT) has successfully migrated 5,119 phones to Webex Calling in an effort to better support UD’s hybrid work environment. As the migration project wraps up this spring, UDIT would like to remind everyone that UDIT Telephone Services hosts open house support meetings every Monday at 9 a.m. and Wednesday at 1 p.m. to answer questions and address concerns. Join via Zoom.

UDIT appreciates the full cooperation of the community during this transition and looks forward to continuing to provide support for all of UD’s telephony needs. In addition, as part of this process, UDIT has also developed and implemented a new voice policy to reflect changes brought by this new service. Part of this policy addresses a federal mandate related to location sharing for emergency purposes.

Emergency services need location information in order to provide expedient assistance. When using physical hard-wired phones, the device location is communicated automatically to emergency services. As much of the University community is using the Webex application on a desktop or laptop, employees are required to manually set their current e911 location, each time their working location changes. Providing this information is mandated by federal law and is required by the new UD voice policy. Location information is only sent to emergency services when 911 is dialed.
