Faculty promotions announced

Board of Trustees approves faculty promotions

The University of Delaware Board of Trustees approved the promotions of 56 faculty members and awarded emeritus status to several retiring professors at its spring meeting on May 25.

Seven faculty members were honored with named professorships: Sunita Chandrasekaran, David L. and Beverly J.C. Mills Career Development Chair, computer and information sciences; Thomas Epps, III, Allan and Myra Ferguson Distinguished Chair, chemical and biomolecular engineering; April Kloxin, Thomas and Kipp Gutshall Development Professor of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering; Mark Moline, Maxwell P. and Mildred Harrington Professor of Marine Studies, School of Marine Science and Policy; Millicent Sullivan, Alvin B. and Julie O. Styles Professor of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering; Doug Tallamy, T.A. Baker Professor, entomology and wildlife ecology; and Dion Vlachos, Unidel Dan Rich Chair in Energy, chemical and biomolecular engineering.

Promoted to the rank of professor were 19 associate professors who had already been granted tenure: Michael Arnold, economics; Jennifer Biddle, School of Marine Science and Policy; Erin Cassesse, political science and international relations; Clara Chan, Earth sciences; Marie-Christine Delbeau, School of Music; Lars Gundlach, chemistry and biochemistry; Rachael Hutchinson, languages, literatures and cultures; Feng Jiao, chemical and biomolecular engineering; Adrienne Lucas, economics; Joanne Miller, political science and international relations; Chiara Sabina, women and gender studies; Kelebogile Setiloane, behavioral health and nutrition; Abhyudai Singh, electrical and computer engineering; Daniel Stevens, School of Music; Erik Thostenson, mechanical engineering; Rodrigo Vargas Ramos, plant and soil sciences; Regina Wright, School of Nursing; Changqing Wu, animal and food sciences; and Dannagal Young, communication.

Promoted from associate professor to professor, without tenure, were William Lewis, School of Education; Max Michael McCamley, English; and Sarah Trembanis, Associate in Arts Program.

Twenty assistant professors were promoted to the rank of associate professor, with tenure: Ryan Arsenault, animal and food sciences; Sunita Chandrasekaran, computer and information sciences; Jasmin Cloutier, psychological and brain sciences; Jeremy Crenshaw, kinesiology and applied physiology; John Crowley, communication; Mahya Ghandehari, mathematical sciences; Mari Griffioen, School of Nursing; Dominique Guillot, mathematical sciences; Lisa Jaremka, psychological and brain sciences; Laura Lessard, behavioral health and nutrition; Brandon McFadden, applied economics and statistics; Lindsay Naylor, geography and spatial sciences; Abdol-Razagh Oskooii, political science and international relations; Leah Palm-Forster, applied economics and statistics; Wei Qian, applied economics and statistics; Lauren Reynolds, School of Music; Shannon Robson, behavioral health and nutrition; Tara Trammell, plant and soil sciences; Gang Wang, accounting and management information systems; and Sarah Wasserman, English.

Promoted to the rank of associate professor without tenure were Julianna Butler, economics; Zhiyin Renee Dong, languages, literatures and cultures; Jennifer Lobasz, political science and international relations; Devon Miller-Duggan, English; Ellen Monk, accounting and management information systems; Sarah Rooney, biomedical engineering; and Anna Wik, plant and soil sciences.

All promotions are effective Sept. 1, 2021.

New emeriti faculty are Stuart Binder-Macleod, Edward L. Ratledge Endowed Professor Emeritus of Physical Therapy; Christopher Boorse, professor emeritus of philosophy; John Courtright, professor emeritus of communication; Marsha Dickson, Irma Ayers Professor Emerita of Human Services; Alfinio Flores, Kathleen and David Hollowell Professor Emeritus of Mathematics Education; Patrick Gaffney, professor emeritus in the School of Marine Science and Policy; Lana Harrison, professor emerita of sociology and criminal justice; Dallas Hoover, professor emeritus of animal and food sciences; Michael Keefe, professor emeritus of mechanical engineering; David Kirchman, Maxwell P. and Mildred H. Harrington Professor Emeritus of Marine Studies; Marie Kuczmarski, professor emerita of behavioral health and nutrition; Rob Palkovitz, professor emeritus of human development and family sciences; Linda Pellecchia, associate professor emerita of art history; Leonard Schwartz, professor emeritus of mechanical engineering; David Stone, professor emeritus of art history; Gerald Turkel, professor emeritus of sociology and criminal justice; and April Veness, associate professor emerita of geography and spatial sciences.
