Horn skills workshops are designed for any student interested in developing a business idea
Financial projections are essential for any business, even if it’s not yet generating revenue. Business owners need to be able to understand both what they are trying to build and accomplish, as well as what resources are needed to reach those milestones. Lacking clear insight into these specific plans and projections can sink the venture in its infancy.
When seeking to raise external funding, financial modeling is even more important to demonstrate that a founding or executive team has a firm grasp on the things that will directly impact the success or failure of your business and a plan for executing successfully.
Horn Entrepreneurship is sponsoring a workshop on Thursday, March 18 from 3-4 p.m. to learn how to:
• Develop assumptions for forecasting
• Make assumptions including estimating salaries, customer acquisition costs, sales cycles and growth rate
• Budget expenses and determining cash flow and cash burn rate
• Build a revenue projection spreadsheet
• Create pricing models and substitute products and services to estimate pricing
Additionally, a basic cash flow model will be built live so workshop participants can see the process and ask questions in real-time.
Bryan Adler, who will lead the workshop, is an experienced angel investor and adviser with deep experience in financial due diligence. He recently founded, scaled, and sold Vetter, a FinTech startup focused upon streamlining digital loan applications. Before Vetter, Adler analyzed hundreds of investment deals across healthcare, education, urbantech/smart cities, and cybertech industry segments at Dreamit Ventures.
