UD Police announce database of individuals banned from campus

Resource identifies those who are forbidden on parts or all of UD property

A new database of all individuals currently banned from University of Delaware property has been developed by the UD Police Department as another way to share information with the campus community, joining other tools such as the LiveSafe app and UD Alerts. The database is accessible to all members of the University community.

“We hope this resource will be useful to all our students, faculty and staff,” said Patrick Ogden, associate vice president and chief of police. “This database provides them with helpful information, while also enabling them to assist our officers in maintaining the safety of our campus community.”

Ogden stressed that If someone listed on the database is seen on the campus, individuals should not approach them but instead should contact UD Police by dialing 911 or 302-831-UDPD so that they can handle the situation. He noted that the actual confirmation of an identification and any follow-up actions are strictly the domain of the police and will be handled with sensitivity.

The fact that an individual is in this database does not necessarily mean that he or she has committed a crime. It does indicate that their past conduct has warranted them being banned from UD property. Individuals may be banned from University locations or the entire campus for a wide variety of reasons, including unauthorized access to residence halls or recreation spaces, unapproved solicitations on campus, suspensions or other sanctions.

The database includes basic information about banned individuals, including name, gender, age, height, weight, ethnicity, eye color, hair color, identifying marks and, when possible a photograph, as well as the specific areas on campus where the person is banned.

Members of the UD community must login through the University’s Central Authentication Service to access the database, which may be found at https://udapps.nss.udel.edu/udtrespass/search.
