The University of Delaware community is invited to join the College of Arts and Sciences from 2-3:30 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 17, for the second in its 2020-21 Saturday Symposium series focused on historical and contemporary perspectives on racism.

The series, which is free and open to the public, will continue with a discussion of historical perspectives on anti-Black racism. A session in the spring will focus on anti-Latinx racism. The program will provide ample opportunity for questions and answers with the panel after the presentations.

The Oct. 17 panelists and their departments and topics are:

- Emerald Christopher-Byrd, Women and Gender Studies, “Jane Crow and Misogynoir: When Racism meets Sexism in the Lives of Black Women”

- Kathryn Benjamin Golden, Africana Studies, "Emancipatory Legacies of Marronage in an Anti-Black World"

- Alison Parker, History, “Black Women and Gendered Violence at the Turn of the 20th Century.”

The discussion will be moderated by Monet Lewis-Timmons, a doctoral student in English.
