Next phase of dining in Perkins begins

Further improvements begin this March with The Scrounge

Dining at Perkins Student Center at the University of Delaware will undergo additional waves of renovations that will kick off next week.

Combined with feedback from UD students, Dining Services worked closely with Student Centers and a student committee to develop the vision of dining at Perkins. This spring Dining Services’ new Dunkin’ opened where the Perkins’ information desk was previously located. It delivers a unique coffeehouse experience in a more centrally located area in Perkins Student Center.

Beginning on Monday, March 2, The Scrounge will close and Dining Services administrative office will relocate to make way for a diner along Academy Street, updates to the existing food service areas and enhancements to Perkins’ quick, on-the-go offerings. All are expected to open in time for fall 2020 semester.

To prepare for the construction, the seating adjacent to the food service areas will be closed temporarily the week of March 9 and reopen in time for Perkins Live on Friday, March 13.

During the construction and throughout the spring semester, nearby Dunkin’, Russell Dining, Harrington P.O.D. Market and Einstein Bros. Bagels will serve East Campus.

Additionally, food trucks, like The Fry Box, will be available on a rotating schedule to ensure uninterrupted food service to the neighborhood. Located behind Perkins Student Center, The Fry Box will be open for lunch from 11 a.m.-7 p.m., Monday-Thursday, and 11 a.m.-5p.m., Friday, weather permitting. Acceptable payment methods include points, Flex and credit.

Dining Services’ Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts (@DiningUD) continue to be a resource for on-campus dining updates.
