Delaware IDeAs Symposium

NIH, state leaders to discuss Delaware's biomedical community

The Delaware IDeAs Biomedical Research Symposium will be held Thursday, Nov. 7 to celebrate the state's growing biomedical research network and plan new partnerships and pathways to the future.

The free, daylong event begins at noon at the University of Delaware's Science Technology and Research (STAR) Campus Health Sciences Complex. It includes a research resources open house, breakout sessions, poster sessions and networking opportunities.

Since 2001, Delaware has developed a highly effective statewide network of biomedical research, supported by the National Institutes of Health’s Institutional Development Program (IDeA) and the State of Delaware. The Delaware IDeAs network has grown to include partner and affiliate institutions from academia, healthcare, industry and government. Bolstered by more than $276 million in IDeA-related funding, the Delaware IDeAs Network has generated $485 million in additional biomedical research funding to Delaware institutions.

The 2019 Delaware IDeAs Symposium is intended to celebrate those scientific successes and explore the expanding collection of resources that support and foster biomedical research. The goal of the event is to facilitate networking and lead to new partnerships, research initiatives and the discovery of career opportunities in Delaware for students.
