Cans for Cites begins

Parking Services announces sixth annual Cans for Cites food drive program starts Nov. 18

University of Delaware Parking Services is getting into the holiday spirit and helping those in need at the same time, announcing a four-week food drive program as a way to pay parking citations.

The program is experiencing some first-time changes this year. Due to the academic calendar, the sixth annual Cans for Cites program will begin prior to Thanksgiving for the first time. The program starts on Monday, Nov. 18 and will run through Dec. 13.

Food donations will be delivered weekly to Blue Hen Bounty, the student-run food pantry that provides supplemental nutrition to all UD students in need of this support. Remaining donations will be delivered to the Food Bank of Delaware on Dec. 16. This will be the first year partnering with Blue Hen Bounty, with the hope to fill student cupboards prior to the end of fall semester.

Each non-perishable food item will count as $5 towards the cost of an on-campus parking citation that is less than 30 days old. Customers can choose to pay a citation in full or in part by bringing non-perishable food items to the Parking Office at 147 Perkins Student Center.

No citation? No problem.

Non-perishable food donation barrels or boxes are available at
• STAR Health Sciences lobby
• STAR Tower
• Fred Rust Ice Arena lobby
• Human Resources Lobby
• Morris Library lobby
• DuPont Hall Lobby
• Colburn Lab Lobby
• UD Visitors Center
