Summer construction in Morris Library

Summer renovations and the impact on your next visit

During the summer of 2019, the University of Delaware's Morris Library will be home to several construction projects. When completed, there will be exciting updates and renovations. In the meantime, visitors should expect additional noise and limited access to certain parts of the building.

The areas in and around Morris Library to be impacted include:
• The Third Floor. The graduate student carrel area on the third floor will be updated this summer, limiting access to that space until the renovation is complete. The renovated area will feature new furniture, lighting and carpet; individual study spaces; and eight new group study rooms.
• Library Commons. Bleecker Street, the bistro in the Library Commons, will close at the end of the spring semester. Following a major remodeling, the eatery will re-open as “The Nest.” Due to this renovation, the Library Commons will be closed this summer.
• Film and Video Collection. Located directly beneath the Library Commons on the Lower Level, the Film and Video Collection will have periods of limited access and closure as a result of the renovation within the Library Commons.
• Reference Room. The Reference Room will have short periods of limited access. At the beginning of summer, the desk where you de-stress by working on puzzles will be removed, though the puzzles will return. Later in the summer, new carpet will be installed in Room 116.
• The South Green. The University’s South Green Infrastructure project will continue this summer with work on the steam line that runs in front of Morris Library’s steps. This may impact pedestrian access and the parking lot closest to the library.

Morris Library will be closed on Tuesday, June 4, for a staff in-service day.
