Fifth annual Delta Alpha Pi International Honor Society initiation on March 23
Students, faculty, staff and community members are invited to the fifth annual Delta Alpha Pi (DAPi) International Honor Society initiation ceremony at the University of Delaware. The ceremony will be held in the Gallery Room of Perkins Student Center on Saturday, March 23 at 2:30 p.m.
Sponsored by the Office of Disability Support Services (DSS), DAPi recognizes students with high academic standing who are registered with the office. The honor society includes a diverse group of students with various majors, interests, and talents.
The ceremony will also honor the outgoing executive board and welcome the incoming board. Additionally, several guest speakers will address the audience and the winners of the 2019 Kevin Miner Scholarship Award will be announced.
Miner was a UD student with a disability who passed away in November of 2015. The scholarship was created in his honor for students who demonstrate the core values of leadership, provide and promote advocacy for themselves and others and take pride in educational pursuits. Recipients must also exemplify Miner’s characteristics of optimism, strength and a commitment to disability issues.
DAPi’s vision and purposes are to change the perception of students with disabilities by recognizing them for their academic accomplishments. Undergraduate students with a 3.1 GPA and at least 24 credit hours and graduate students with a 3.3 GPA and at least 18 credit hours are eligible for membership.
To learn more about joining DAPi, nominate a deserving student for the Kevin Miner Scholarship Award or donate to the award, please contact DDS at (302) 831-4643 or visit the website.
