Enhanced Parental Leave Program

HR introduces paid parental leave benefit

The University of Delaware's Department of Human Resources announced the University has enhanced its parental leave program. Effective July 1, 2019, employees eligible for benefits will be entitled to eight weeks of paid leave upon the birth of their child or adoption of a child age six or younger.

To be eligible, employees must be in a benefited position and employed with the University for at least 12 months prior to the anticipated leave and working 30 hours or more per week. Employees covered by collective bargaining agreements should consult their respective agreements.

A completed and signed Request for Parental Leave Form and other required documentation must be submitted to the employee's departmental Human Resources manager/HR designee 60 days in advance.

Paid leave will be in effect for births and adoptions occurring on or after July 1, 2019.

The paid parental leave policy includes certain other limitations. For further information, please visit the HR website: https://www.udel.edu/faculty-staff/human-resources/benefits/time-away-from-work/
