Undergraduate Research Opportunity Focused on Biochar
February 22, 2019
Deadline is March 15
Undergraduate students at the University of Delaware who are interested in environmental solutions are invited to apply for a paid research internship, focused on the potential of biochar made from poultry litter to function as a slow-release fertilizer. The application deadline is March 15, 2019.
Faculty mentors for the project are Jules Bruck from the Department of Plant and Soil Sciences and Julia Maresca from Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Bruck and Maresca are looking for a student with some chemistry background, who is available to begin work during the spring semester, with a time commitment of about 10 hours per week. Summer 2019 research may also be possible.
To apply, students should prepare a letter of interest and a resume, and send to Yolanda Williams-Bey (yolanda@udel.edu) at the Delaware Environmental Institute (DENIN). One letter of reference from a faculty member is also required and should be sent by email directly to Williams-Bey. All application materials are due March 15, 2019. For more information on the project and application instructions, please visit the DENIN Environmental Scholars page at http://www.denin.udel.edu/students-page/denin-environmental-scholars/.
