Top 10 reasons to love UD’s meal plans this fall semester

Whether living on campus or off, the University of Delaware’s meal plans were designed with students in mind and include many benefits they will love.

1. NEW ALL ACCESS AND BLOCK PLANS

All access gives students unlimited meals to use in UD’s three residential dining halls -- centrally located Caesar Rodney Fresh Food Company, Russell Dining on East Campus and Pencader Dining on Laird Campus. These plans are designed for students who like to snack throughout the day, want several full meals or don’t want to have to worry about budgeting. They are the best value at $8.14 per meal. Off-campus block plans are for students not living in a residence hall because they may be commuting to campus or living off campus in an apartment, in University Courtyard or in family housing. These students are eligible for a 125, 80 or 35 Block plan.

2. DINING POINTS

Beginning this fall, all purchases made with points will receive a 10% discount. One point is equivalent to one dollar and points decline like money on a debit card. They are mainly used at on-campus retail locations and P.O.D. convenience stores.

3. MEAL EXCHANGE

Students can now exchange one residential dining hall meal for a combo meal in Trabant Food Court at Burger Studio or Chick-fil-A and in The Scrounge at Grille Works or Zoca, during late night, Monday – Friday, 8 - 11 pm. Any meal plan that comes with meals, comes with meal exchange.

4. THE NEST IN MORRIS LIBRARY COMMONS

Coming this fall to Morris Library's Commons, The Nest features a new collaborative environment to study and dine. Students, faculty and staff can look forward to a fresh, modern space with a coffee bar, 24/7 marketplace, as well as a pop-up restaurant.

5. CHEF-INSPIRED MENUS AND SPECIAL EVENTS

Menus and recipes throughout campus are developed by world-class culinarians, professional chefs and dedicated dietitians. Dining Services’ calendar is packed with special food events that highlight new flavors, national food days and students’ favorite eats.

6. VEGAN, VEGETARIAN AND MORE

Dining Services offers nutritious options throughout campus that fit students’ needs, including vegan, vegetarian, made without gluten, options for those suffering from food allergies, kosher and locally sourced. Students with food allergies should visit the new True Balance stations in Caesar Rodney Fresh Food Company and Pencader Dining.

7. MOBILE ORDERING AND PICKUP

UD students can now order from on-campus restaurants, pay with their ONEcard and pick up food. Campus dining in the Grubhub app makes it easy.

8. HOME CHEF MEAL KITS

Students who live off campus or in University Courtyard can now eat on campus and cook at home with the 35 Block with Home Chef meal plan. With this plan, students will receive a $120 credit to Home Chef, to redeem for fresh, weekly meal kits sent directly to their off-campus address.

9. TO-GO OPTIONS

Take food on the go, in reusable or biodegradable containers, from Caesar Rodney Fresh Food Company, Russell or Pencader Dining Halls. When entering, students should tell a cashier they would like their meal to go.

10. REGISTERED DIETITIAN

Dining Services’ dietitian, Debbi Miller, R.D., L.D.N., helps to design menus with health and wellness in mind, and meets with students who have dietary restrictions or food allergies. Students may reach out to her directly by email at dml@udel.edu to learn more.

Current students can now select their meal plan for fall semester by visiting www.udel.edu/diningrequest, in UDSIS. The fall deadline to select or change meal plans is Tuesday, Sept. 10. Students can also check their balances of meals, points and guest meals in UDSIS.

Dining Services’ website, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts continue to be resources for information on meal plans, on-campus dining locations, hours, residential dining menus, nutrition facts and more.
