Student Life hires new directors, prioritizes leadership and learning among fraternities and sororities

Each moment a student spends at the University of Delaware is laden with opportunities to make intentional choices that support their success. The Division of Student Life, which manages several aspects of their experience including the spaces they live and relax in as well as the programs they encounter as they move through a facility, is often referred to as a copilot to students throughout this journey. That support has never been more coordinated, thanks to the arrival of not one but three new directors, as well as an entirely new office devoted to UD’s growing fraternity and sorority community.

Anthony Doody

Anthony Doody, former senior director of student engagement at Rutgers University, assumed leadership in August of one of Student Life’s busiest units following the retirement of Marilyn Prime. Doody’s collaborative spirit and expertise in programming, operations, leadership and marketing touches on all aspects of the University Student Centers purview, which includes more than 400 registered student organizations, management of Perkins Student Center and Trabant University Center, and oversight of the Blue Hen Leadership Program as well as more than 10,000 student centered programs and events each year. Engaged and unaffiliated students alike may recognize USC efforts as the popular Perkins Live and Trabant Now programming series, the recently revamped Hen Zone game room and more.

Holli Harvey-Dudlek

The Office of Student Conduct works with students to promote personal and social responsibility, accountability and community standards. Students may recognize OSC initiatives in the new addition of an education-only jaywalking offense, the recent debut of a policy limiting records release to off-campus inquiries, and both the creation of the amnesty protocol as well as its expansion to include amnesty in hazing and drug-related situations. Holli Harvey-Dudlek led the office through each of these new initiatives as interim director, in addition to overseeing a staff expansion and restructure and creating new leadership opportunities by which students could engage with OSC toward the betterment of the UD community. Harvey-Dudlek, a UD alumna, has worked with UD student conduct efforts for more than a decade and in August accepted the permanent position of OSC director.

For the nearly 30 percent of UD students who participate in fraternities and sororities at UD, this fall brings a wealth of new beginnings for their personal, educational and professional growth. The Division of Student Life has created a new office titled Fraternity and Sorority Leadership and Learning to oversee these activities on campus, and provide strategic direction for students’ development of leadership and other transferable skills. Corin Gioia Edwards, previously the associate director of fraternity and sorority life at University of Maryland, brings her background in student development, stakeholder collaboration and leadership programming within a variety of institutions to the new role of FSLL director.

“We are very excited about this strategic expansion for Student Life,” said José-Luis Riera, interim vice president for Student Life. “UD’s fraternity and sorority community holds tremendous promise to influence the atmosphere and climate on our campus in positive ways. All of these new opportunities for Tony, Holli and Corin will enhance our capacity to nimbly and thoughtfully address opportunities that are critical to the student experience, and to our work in support of UD’s strategic priorities.”
