


Newark Police investigate accident

Man struck by truck at Library Avenue and Ogletown Road
Newark Police responded to the report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Library Avenue and Ogletown Road at 9:19 p.m., Monday, Nov. 26.
The Newark man, who is in his 40s, was treated at the scene by Aetna Hose, Hook and Ladder Company of Newark and New Castle County paramedics and was then transported to an area hospital, where he was later admitted in serious condition.
During the investigation, officers learned that the man was struck while crossing the southbound lanes of Library Avenue, just south of the intersection. Whether he was in a marked crosswalk is being investigated at this time.
After striking the pedestrian, the vehicle fled southbound on Library Avenue. The vehicle -- described as a red pick-up truck, possibly a Ford -- may have damage on its front right side.
