Writing Center offers Winter Session boot camps; apply by Dec. 16

The University of Delaware Writing Center will host two Dissertation Boot Camps during the upcoming Winter Session, providing space and support for students working on a master’s thesis or doctoral dissertation.

Participants meet from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day in the Writing Center in Memorial Hall, with the first session running from Jan. 14-18 and the second from Jan. 28-Feb. 1.

The deadline to apply is Dec. 16, and applicants will be notified by Dec. 17 if a seat is available.

Dissertation Boot Camps include short presentations and discussions on topics such as motivation, goal setting and time management, but students spend most of their time writing. They are provided the space and structure to facilitate the writing process, but the center does not give feedback on their draft.

The program, which is free of charge, includes morning coffee, lunch and snacks.

Most participants bring their own laptops or tablets. A few Writing Center computers will be available. Registration information is available at the website, below.
