Newark Police investigate home invasion of UD student

The Newark Police Department is investigating the home invasion of a 19-year-old male University of Delaware student that occurred in the early morning of Tuesday, March 13, in the 200 block of East Delaware Avenue.

The victim told police he was in bed when he heard someone entering his residence around 12:40 a.m., and he presumed it was a roommate. He was confronted in his room by four to five male suspects who punched him while he was in bed. He was able to chase them out of his residence and in the process was punched in the head. An undisclosed amount of money was removed from wallets within the residence, and the victim sustained injuries to his face and back but did not require medical attention. No weapons were displayed during the incident.

Three of the suspects were described as high-school-aged males, two of them black and one Hispanic, all dressed in dark-colored clothing and wearing dark colored hats.
