Interim Title IX coordinator named

Danica Myers to fill position during national search

Danica A. Myers, who has more than 14 years of experience in higher education administration, programming and compliance, has been named interim Title IX coordinator at the University of Delaware, President Dennis Assanis has announced.

In this role, Myers reports directly to the president with responsibility for handling Title IX reports, as well as other complaints of illegal discrimination.

Danica Myers is serving as interim Title IX coordinator at the University of Delaware.

In announcing the appointment, Assanis said, “Danica Myers shares the University’s deep commitment to the safety, health and well-being of our campus community, and she brings extensive experience in higher education administration and compliance to this important role. As we undertake a national search for a permanent Title IX coordinator, we are grateful for Ms. Myers’ service on an interim basis.”

Myers’ appointment allows Fatimah Stone, who has filled the role on an interim basis since April, to return full-time to her duties as assistant general counsel at the University. While in the interim position, Stone has continued to serve as senior legal counsel for the National Institute for Innovation in Manufacturing Biopharmaceuticals (NIIMBL), a Manufacturing USA institute headquartered at UD.

An expert in the field of Title IX and sex discrimination investigation, Myers has held positions as Title IX coordinator, Title IX investigator, director of student affairs and Clery compliance coordinator. Before coming to UD, she was assistant director of the Office of Equity and Inclusion at Tennessee State University, and she has also held administrative posts at Occidental College, University of California, Los Angeles, the University of Southern California and the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising.

She has completed several training and certification programs in the areas of Title IX coordination and investigation, as well as trauma interview skills and Clery Act compliance.

Myers holds bachelor’s degrees in political science and history from UCLA, where she also completed an alcohol and drug abuse counseling certificate program.
