Days/hours of operation shift for library, parking services, UDairy and more

Winter break at the University of Delaware begins for students with the end of exams on Saturday, Dec. 15. During the break, campus facilities will have adjusted schedules.

University residence halls will close at 10 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 15. The last meal in the dining halls will be dinner that day. More detailed schedules for each dining hall can be found on the Dining Services website.

For students attending classes during Winter Session, residence halls will reopen for check-in from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 6. The first meal will be dinner at Russell Residential Dining that same day. Winter session classes begin at 8 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 7. 

University offices generally will be closed from Saturday, Dec. 22, through Tuesday, Jan. 1, reopening on Wednesday, Jan. 2. The Associate in Arts Program offices in Dover, Georgetown and Wilmington will reopen Jan. 7. 

The following information concerns adjusted hours and closings at campus facilities and offices:

Student Health Services

Student Health Services is open 24-hours until Saturday, Dec. 15 at 10 p.m. The office will be closed Sunday, Dec. 16.

During the week of Dec. 17 through Dec. 21, Student Health will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Starting at 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 21 until 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 2, Student Health Services will be closed.  

On Jan. 2 through Jan. 4, Student Health will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The office will be closed Saturday, Jan. 5. Twenty-four-hour/seven-day availability resumes at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Jan 6.

University Library

Morris Library will be open until 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 15, and will be closed Sunday, Dec. 16.

Monday, Dec. 17 through Friday, Dec. 21: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Saturday, Dec. 22 through Tuesday, Jan. 1: Closed.

Tuesday, Jan. 2 through Friday, Jan 4: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Saturday, Jan. 5 and Sunday, Jan. 6: Closed.

Monday Jan. 7, the library will be open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., resuming regular hours.

UD Bookstore

Winter break hours for the Barnes & Noble UD Bookstore:

Monday, Dec. 17 through Saturday, Dec. 22: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Sunday, Dec. 23: Noon to 6 p.m.

Monday, Dec. 24: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Tuesday, Dec. 25: Closed.

Wednesday, Dec. 26 through Saturday, Dec. 29: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Sunday, Dec. 30: Noon to 6 p.m.

Monday, Dec. 31: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Tuesday, Jan. 1: Closed.

Winter Session hours resume Wednesday, Jan 2:

  • Monday through Saturday: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

  • Sundays: Noon to 6 p.m.

Development and Alumni Relations office

For the convenience of donors making year-end contributions, the Office of University Development and Alumni Relations can be reached at 302-831-2104 or 1-866-535-4504. The office will be staffed from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 27 and from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 31.

Staff will be checking phone messages periodically over the break until 5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 31.

Dining Services

Dining Services administrative offices will close at 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 21, for the holiday break. For more detailed hours of operation for specific dining locations, check the Dining Service’s website.

UD Ice Arenas

UD Ice Arenas will hold holiday skating sessions and community events throughout the winter break.

The Winter Figure Skating Spectacular will be on Friday, Dec. 28, at 6 p.m at the Fred Rust Ice Arena. Tickets can be purchased at the UD Box Office and/or the UD Ice Arena.

Holiday skating sessions at the Fred Rust Ice Arena will be available from Dec. 21 to Jan. 1. The arena will be closed on Dec. 25. Holiday skating session are as follows:

  • Friday, Dec. 21 through Sunday, Dec. 23: 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

  • Monday, Dec. 24: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

  • Tuesday, Dec. 25: Closed.

  • Wednesday, Dec. 26 and Thursday Dec. 27: 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

  • Friday, Dec. 28: 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. to 10:15 p.m.

  • Saturday, Dec. 29 and Sunday, Dec. 30: 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

  • Monday, Dec. 31: 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

  • Tuesday, Jan 1: 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Additional information on classes offered at the Ice Arenas can be found on its website. UD faculty and staff can use the coupon code UD STAFF to receive $20 off learn-to-skate or learn-to-play-hockey classes.

Parking Services

Parking Services will close at 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 21, for the holiday break. All online services will be available. The office will reopen at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 2.

Transportation Services Shuttle

For the week beginning on Monday, Dec 16, the UD shuttles will operate according to the limited holiday schedule available on the Transportation Department’s website. There will be no weekend bus service.

For the week of Dec. 23, There will be no university shuttle service.

Starting Wednesday, Jan. 2, shuttles will operate according to the limited holiday schedule. Winter Session buses begin Monday, Jan. 7 with the Winter Session Shuttles consisting of all day routes operating on a regular schedule Monday through Friday, with routes ending at midnight. Weekend service will operate Saturdays and Sundays from noon to midnight. One Late Bird shuttle will operate a 70-minute campus loop Monday through Saturday until 2 a.m.

On Saturday, Feb. 9 (Winter Session Exam Day), all weekday routes will operate according to a regular schedule. The North/South College Avenue shuttle will run every 15 minutes from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., and every 30 minutes until 11:23 p.m. Weekend routes will operate through Sunday, Feb. 10. Spring Semester routes will begin Monday, Feb. 11.

Recreation

The Carpenter Sports Building (Little Bob) will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the last day of finals, Saturday, Dec. 15.

Sunday, Dec. 16: Closed.

Monday, Dec. 17 through Thursday, Dec. 20: 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Friday, Dec. 21: 6 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Saturday, Dec. 22 through Tuesday, Jan. 1: Closed.

Wednesday, Jan 2 through Friday, Jan. 4: 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Saturday, Jan 5 and Sunday, Jan. 6: Closed.

Winter Session hours begin Jan. 7 and continue through Feb. 10:

  • Monday through Thursday: 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.

  • Friday: 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.

  • Saturday and Sunday: 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

UDairy Creamery

UDairy Creamery Newark and Wilmington locations will be closed from Monday, Dec. 24 through Tuesday, Jan. 1. The creamery will reopen Jan. 2 with the following hours listed by location:

Newark

  • Monday through Friday: 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

  • Saturday and Sunday: 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Wilmington

  • Everyday: 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Go Baby Go Cafe

  • Monday through Friday: 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Athletics

UD’s men’s and women’s basketball teams have games scheduled at the Bob Carpenter Center during the winter break.

Men’s Basketball:

  • Wednesday, Dec. 19: UD vs. Delaware State University, 7 p.m.

Women’s Basketball:

  • Tuesday, Dec. 18: UD vs. Gardner-Webb, 7 p.m.

  • Thursday, Dec. 20 : UD vs. Maryland, 3 p.m.

  • Friday, Dec. 28: UD vs. Saint Joseph’s, 7 p.m.
