Oct. 5: Audio essay workship
September 29, 2017
Use audio to tell your story in UD Library workshop
There are countless formats for storytelling. The proper medium can lend authenticity, credibility and emotion. For those who have considered telling their stories through spoken word, the University of Delaware Library, Museums and Press is presenting a “Producing an Audio Essay” workshop on Thursday, Oct. 5.
Participants will learn tips for writing a script, recording their voice and using Audacity for basic editing. They will also walk away with a better understanding of how to use the tools in the Student Multimedia Design Center for their projects.
The workshop will be held from 7-8:30 p.m., Oct. 5, in Room B of the Student Multimedia Design Center on the Lower Level of Morris Library. Those who would like to attend should register here.
Undergraduate and graduate students are welcome to attend. Those students who plan to submit entries in the “Voices of the Divide” audio essay contest are particularly encouraged to join.
Cosponsored by the Center for Political Communication, the workshop will be led by Tom Byrne, news director, Delaware Public Media; and Nico Carver, coordinator, Student Multimedia Design Center Services.
While workshops are free of charge, registration is required as seating is limited. For a complete listing of Library workshops, visit library.udel.edu/workshops.
All Morris Library visitors need photo identification to enter. Visitors with UD ONEcards can use those at the turnstiles for easy access to the Library. If you do not have a UD ONEcard, you will need a state-issued ID (a driver’s license, a government-issued or school-issued photo ID, etc.) to enter.
Please call 302-831-2432 or email lib-workshops@udel.edu with questions regarding workshops.
