Students invited to enter ‘Voices of the Divide’ competition

As a supplement to the fall speaker series “National Agenda 2017: As We Stand | Divided,” the Center for Political Communication (CPC) invites UD students to enter its audio essay contest.

The contest, on the theme “Voices of the Divide,” is designed to promote a campus-wide conversation about living in a polarized society. It aims to give those who feel marginalized a chance to tell their stories in a two- to four-minute personal essay.

The contest opened on Monday, Aug. 28, and the deadline for entries is 11:59 p.m., Friday, Dec. 1. The CPC will announce the winners at a separate event in spring 2018.

The top entries will receive cash prizes, with a $500 award for first place, and winners will attend the spring event. The CPC will use the essays in its podcast directory and in audio clips on social media to promote National Agenda events.

The contest is being offered in collaboration with the University Writing Center, the UD Library, Delaware Public Media, the College of Arts and Sciences journalism program, WVUD Radio and the vice provost for diversity.

For more information about the contest, including where to get technical assistance and how to enter, visit the website.
