The University of Delaware offers premier academic programs focusing on the most compelling challenges of our time. Our courses are taught by distinguished faculty at UD's campuses in Delaware and in study-abroad programs in over 35 countries.

Among UD's faculty are internationally known authors, scientists, and artists, including Nobel Laureates, Guggenheim and Fulbright Fellows, members of the National Academy of Engineering, National Academy of Sciences, and American Association for the Advancement of Science.

As a major U.S. research university with over 50 research centers, UD provides students with rich opportunities for discovery-based learning in the laboratory and in the field in preparation for rewarding careers in today's global arena.

UD promotes a caring environment and embraces diversity and environmental sustainability as integral and vital parts of everyday life. Our student body includes nearly 16,000 undergraduates, 3,500 graduate students, and 1,000 students in professional and continuing studies from across the United States and around the world.

Courses are offered in a broad range of disciplines, including 4 associate’s, 130 bachelor’s, 115 master's, and 43 doctoral programs, through UD's seven colleges--Agriculture and Natural Resources; Arts and Sciences; Business and Economics; Earth, Ocean, and Environment; Education and Human Development; Engineering; and Health Sciences.

UD's study-abroad programs, offered on all seven continents, expand students' horizons and enhance their education as global citizens. Through service learning programs, students connect classroom theory with real-world experience to make a difference in communities, and lifelong learning programs provide a dynamic culture of enrichment for students over 50.

The University is home to chapters of two highly regarded honor societies, Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi. UD's Phi Kappa Phi chapter was just the fifth chapter in the nation to be chartered, in 1905.

UD has been accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools since 1921. Professional accreditation also is held in accounting, agricultural engineering/engineering technology, athletic training, business administration, chemistry, clinical psychology, dietetics, education, engineering, family and community services, medical technology, music, physical therapy, public administration, and nursing.
