Homecoming 2017 Events

Students, alumni, faculty, staff and friends invited to participate in the Homecoming events

The University of Delaware welcomes all Blue Hens and friends to participate in Homecoming activities taking place from Monday, Oct. 16 through Saturday, Oct. 21.  

Monday and Tuesday

Banner Competition, Perkins Student Center

Stop by the Perkins Student Center to view this year’s school-spirited banners created by various registered student organizations. Winners of this year’s banner competition will be announced on Wednesday, Oct. 18 at Homecoming Spirit Day.

Wednesday

Homecoming Spirit Day from 12:30 – 4:30 p.m., The North Green

Show your Blue Hen Spirit on The North Green and take home a free collectable Homecoming T-shirt. Enjoy inflatables, a photo booth, street tacos and churros.  Get in the spirit of Homecoming by signing the Blue Hen Fence, writing a message on the Homecoming Banner or riding the Blue Hen Buggy to class.  Be sure to come decked out in blue and gold to earn a bonus treat.

Homecoming 5K Walk/Run at 5:30 p.m. (registration opens at 4:30 p.m.), Delaware Stadium

Join the entire UD community for a 5K Walk/Run through the Nelson Athletic Complex and the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. Whether you go for a stroll or go flat out, it’s a great way to be active and share your Homecoming spirit with others.

Friday

Homecoming Step Show at 7:00 p.m. (doors open at 6:00 p.m.), Mitchell Hall

Join fellow Blue Hens as the University’s culturally-based fraternities and sororities showcase their stepping abilities while displaying the traditions and origins of this percussive dance form.

Saturday

Blue Hen Tailgate from 1:30 – 3:30 p.m., Hospitality Village

Nothing beats a good, old-fashioned tailgate and this year’s Blue Hen Tailgate will not disappoint. Attendees will celebrate in Hospitality Village with plenty of food, live music and activities.

Richmond vs. UD Football Game at 3:30 p.m., Delaware Stadium

Join fellow fans at Delaware Stadium to cheer on the Fightin’ Blue Hens as they face off against the University of Richmond Spiders.  Kickoff begins at 3:30 p.m.

CPAB Homecoming Comedy Show at 8:00 p.m. (doors open at 7:30 p.m.), Mitchell Hall

Join the Cultural Programming Advisory Board for its annual Homecoming Comedy Show featuring comedians Rip Michaels and Chico Bean, both known for their recurring appearances on MTV’s improv comedy show, Wild ‘N Out. This event is free to all students and tickets are available with ID at the UD Box Office.
