University of Delaware Horn Entrepreneurship is now accepting high school student registrations for the Diamond Challenge youth entrepreneurship program for 2018. A link to the application is here. The Diamond Challenge has already accepted more than  400 students with 192 concepts from over 34 countries. The program was started by Horn Entrepreneurship in 2012 and is backed by the Paul and Linda McConnell Youth Entrepreneurship Initiative. Students learn how to turn their ideas into action by participating in the competition and engaging with students globally. The innovative competition offers $100,000 in rewards and is built for the innovative, creative, motivated student who wants to change the world.

“We are thrilled to kick off another year of Diamond Challenge with 26 partners,” said Rachel Strauss, Youth Programs Coordinator. “We want to expand our reach even further to bring meaningful impact to youth worldwide and empower them to change the world through entrepreneurship. Our 19 student ambassadors allow us to maximize and personalize the experience for all involved.”

Students are given the opportunity to learn entrepreneurship through the Diamond Challenge video curriculum and connect with other students across the world at one of the 26 pitch sites or through video submission. Students can compete virtually or in person. The program focuses on allowing students to put their ideas in action, unleashing creativity and encouraging a mindset of abundance and self-determination rather than focusing on the principles of small business management.

“Diamond Challenge showed me other amazing and ambitious young people who have ideas they are pursuing,” said Minyi Jiang, participant and ambassador. “I have become more aware of problems around me in everyday activities and in my hobbies and passions and interests. I am constantly seeing how to improve things with a critical eye.”

Any high school student with a creative idea and a team of up to four can enter Diamond Challenge. Simply register here to start your journey through entrepreneurship. Only one student from each team need register for the program.
