All Recovery Yoga offered for students in Christiana Commons

All Recovery Yoga will be offered for University of Delaware students from 7-8 p.m., Thursdays, from April 6 through May 18, in Engagement Center Meeting Room B at Christiana Commons. The class is free.

All Recovery Yoga is a powerful, healing and informative experience for everyone. Those attending should wear comfortable clothes, bring a yoga mat or towel and water. No experience is necessary. Participants will not be asked to disclose any personal information.

All Recovery Yoga is provided by the Collegiate Recovery Community and Sexual Offense Support (SOS) at the University of Delaware, located in the Christiana Engagement Center.

Classes will be led by instructor Natalie Kendall, who works with the Transformation Yoga Project. With the slogan “heal through empowerment,” the group’s mission is to provide people in all types of recovery, ranging from substance abuse to sexual assault to eating disorders, a means for personal growth and empowerment through yoga.

Kendall says, “By practicing yoga, we build a better relationship with our body and mind; finding peace, strength and compassion.”

Yoga can

• Reduce anxiety, stress, depression, anger and fear,

• Improve flexibility, balance and strength,

• Increase restful sleep, provides relaxation and increased energy,

• Cleanse the body and mind through the removal of toxins and negative thoughts,

• Connect the body with the mind and the heart to better manage impulses and cravings and

• Teach nonjudgmental awareness of ourselves and the world.
