New Student Orientation runs through July 19
The University of Delaware community is gearing up for the arrival of our newest Blue Hens and their families, beginning with their formal orientation to the University. The office of New Student Orientation will facilitate three programs this summer, welcoming more than 4,000 new freshmen, transfer, and international students between Tuesday, June 20, and Friday, Aug. 25.
New Student Orientation (NSO) for incoming freshman students is a one-day program, offered on weekdays from Tuesday, June 20, through Wednesday, July 19. Their day on campus allows them to schedule their academic courses for fall semester, begin navigating campus and its resources, as well as consider the choices they may face related to their involvement, safety, and wellness. Families also meet with a variety of campus representatives to learn about UD’s opportunities for their students and how they can best partner with the University to ensure their students’ success.
Transfer Student Orientation (TSO) for incoming transfer students is also a one-day program that will be held on Thursday, July 13, and Monday, July 17. International Student Orientation (ISO) is a two-day program scheduled for Aug. 24-25. ISO, offered collaboratively between NSO and the Office for International Students and Scholars, assists incoming international students in their transition to UD's campus.
All orientations will be held in Trabant University Center, beginning at 8:30 a.m., with the exception of the second ISO day which begins at 8 a.m. An energetic team of Orientation Leaders (OLs) guide students and families through their separate schedules, and aim to get new students excited about their transition to UD. Orientation ends at 4:30 p.m. for NSO and TSO, and 3 p.m. during ISO.
All new students register for their orientation program within the My Blue Hen Home portal.
