The Colonial Athletic Association has recognized University of Delaware freshman Abby Gonzales as its women's basketball rookie of the week.

The guard helped UD extend its winning streak to five games last week by averaging 11.5 points, 3.5 assists and 3.0 rebounds in victories over William and Mary and Towson.

Gonzales opened the week by tying a career-high with 16 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the field to go along with five assists and three steals Friday against the Tribe.

In Sunday’s contest at Towson, she posted a balanced effort with seven points, four rebounds and two assists.

Gonzales has registered 5.9 points, 2.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 26.3 minutes played in her first season in a Blue Hens uniform.

Jordan Henry of the University of North Carolina Wimington (UNCW) and Precious Hall of James Madison shared CAA player of the week honors.

The Hens continue CAA play this weekend at the Bob Carpenter Center as they host UNCW (Friday, 7 p.m.) and Drexel (Sunday, 2 p.m.).
