Recreation offers information on changes to hours, fitness programs

University of Delaware Recreation offers a variety of activities throughout year to help students and staff live a healthy and active lifestyle.

Members of the campus community can view the Recreation website for information on building hours, fitness programs, intramural and club sports, and more. They can also follow Recreation on @UDLilBob on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for updates on changes to hours, programs, and events.

Changes to hours

The Carpenter Sports Building (Little Bob) will be on modified hours Saturday, Sept. 3, through Monday, Sept. 5, for Labor Day weekend. The facility will be open noon-6 p.m. during this time.

View fall hours and upcoming changes to hours for the facility at www.bluehens.com/recreationhours. Receive email updates by registering at the link.

Group fitness classes

The fall group fitness class schedule is now available. Students and staff can commit to get fit by registering for a fall/winter unlimited group fitness class pass online or at the Little Bob cashiers window.

The unlimited class pass allows participants to attend as many classes as they want throughout the fall and winter semesters. Single class passes allow participants to attend one class of their choice and are available for purchase at the Little Bob cashier’s window. Get more information and register online here.

‘Lift Like a Girl’

Perform squats, lunges, chest presses, arm exercises, and more like a pro. This six-week program will teach female students how to do basic full body exercises using dumbbells and barbells.

The main goal is to encourage more women to use the strength room and provide expert instruction on how to perform exercises safely and effectively.

The class will meet once a week and participants will go through an educational segment followed by a full body workout. There will also be a Sunday morning VIP session in the strength room before the Little Bob opens.

The class meets from 4-5 p.m. every Monday from Sept. 12-Oct. 17. Get more information and register here.

‘Top Hen’ fitness challenges

Recreation will be hosting a series of “Top Hen” fitness challenges for students and staff throughout the year.

Those interested can participate by notifying a staff member that they would like to compete.

Each challenge is divided into male and female brackets with six different weight classes to ensure fairness. This semesters challenges include bench press, pull ups, deadlifts, and sit ups.

Winners of each weight bracket receive a Top Hen tank top. Get more information here.
