May 15, 2025
Join Blue Hens as they travel the State of Delaware June 12-14
The final itinerary for the 2025 302 Tour from Thursday, June 12, through Saturday, June 14, is set, the University of Delaware announced Thursday.
“The 302 Tour is one of the most exciting events for our university each year,” said Jordan Skolnick, interim director of athletics, community and campus recreation. “It's so important to be able to interact with the community and engage with Delawareans. The power of the 302 is real. Every time our student-athletes put on their uniforms, they are representing the great state of Delaware and everyone who lives here.”
The third-annual tour begins in New Castle County on June 12 with a day filled with fun and adventure. First on the docket is a tour at the Everett Theatre, where students and staff will check out the cultural art center of Middletown, Delaware, which features cinematic films, live stage productions, local art exhibits, classes and workshops. From there, the crew heads to MOT Charter K-8 Academy, where they will tour the building and spend time with the children during recess. Both of these morning activities are made possible by a strong partnership with associate 302 Tour sponsor Saul Ewing.
The Blue Hens break for lunch at the new Surf Bagel location in Middletown. Fans can join the squad from 12:30-1:45 p.m.
After refueling, the team checks out the Hagley Museum and Library in Wilmington to explore their historical collections, visit the original DuPont powder yard and see demonstrations of the machine shop, roll mill, and signal cannon firing. UD student-athletes will also spend some time at Dick’s House of Sport in Wilmington, where fans can join the Blue Hen student-athletes for plenty of fun from 3-5 p.m.
Day one wraps up with the second-annual pool party and field day presented by Bank of America right on UD’s campus in Newark. The free, public event allows community members to join student-athletes for fun field day activities and swimming in the UD Outdoor Pool. Pizza provided by Grotto’s and chicken fingers served by Raising Cane’s will be on hand for everyone. Fans looking to join the fun should RSVP at bluehens.com.
On Friday, June 13, an early wake-up time has the Hens on the road to Kent County, where the crew will spend time at Bayhealth in Dover. The UD crew will check out the simulation center, have CPR races and learn the unpredictability of a Friday night in the emergency room through a simulation game.
A pit stop for lunch at partner Buffalo Wild Wings is next, where fans can stop by to eat lunch with the Blue Hens at noon, before visiting Dover Motor Speedway. Made possible by Visit Delaware, student-athletes will tour the facilities, take laps in the pace car and run the 24-degree banking, all in advance of Dover's July 18-20 NASCAR race weekend.
Wrapping up day two in Rehoboth Beach, the Hens head over to Funland. Fans can join the crew where student-athletes will be hanging out and enjoying rides and games, beginning at 7 p.m.
The final leg of the tour commences on Saturday, June 14, with the annual Chicken Chase 5k and 1 Mile Walk in Dewey Beach at The Starboard. A regular sponsor of the Blue Hens, The Starboard hosts a post-race party with wings and other delicious food and drinks! To participate in the Chicken Chase 5k and 1 Mile Walk, fans can register through the Race Roster website.
After the run and refueling, the Hens will check out Lewes, on the Lewes History Highlights Walking Tour.
After a quick break to recharge, the team heads to the Beach Bash on the beach at the Delaware Seashore State Park’s South Inlet in Bethany Beach. Fans and community members alike can join the crew at the beach for giveaways, games and swimming from 3-5 p.m.
After fun in the sun and cooling down in the water, everyone can make their way up the ramp to the Big Chill Beach Club for the 302 Tour Reception. The public event allows fans and community members to further their interactions with the Hens staff and student-athletes. Registration is required for the 5-7 p.m. reception.
