Assistant Professor

What are you teaching this fall?

I will be teaching pathophysiology and patient mobility in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program. I’ll also continue my research focused on understanding and improving walking activity among people living with stroke.

Where did you previously work?

I have been with the Department of Physical Therapy for several years, first as a postdoctoral researcher with Department Chair and Professor Darcy Reisman, and later as a research scientist. I’m excited to continue working with my extraordinary colleagues and the students in the PT Department as I transition into a faculty role. 

What inspired you to pursue a career in academia?

I worked as a physical therapist in hospitals for many years and was drawn to academia by a desire to share my passion for the field with students who will be the next generation of physical therapists. 

What are you most looking forward to in your new position?

One of my favorite aspects of teaching and research is learning from the perspective of everyone I meet, whether they’re students, patients or participants in our studies.

What is your proudest accomplishment? 

The accomplishment I’m proudest of is encountering one of my former students and seeing them thriving as a clinician or scientist in their own field.

What do you like to do for fun?

For fun, I enjoy making music. I play the cello and sing. I also enjoy training in jiu jitsu and spending time with family, friends and my pit bull Cinderella.
