UD Convening on Character Development returns Feb. 6
January 27, 2026
The convening advances shared efforts focused on undergraduate character development
The second annual UD Convening on Character Development will take place Friday, Feb. 6, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Audion on STAR Campus. The convening will bring together faculty, staff, administrators and select student leaders to advance shared efforts focused on undergraduate character development. Registration by Feb. 2 is requested. Visit the event webpage for additional details and the full agenda.
The day will open with a featured conversation between UD’s senior academic and student life leaders: Bill Farquhar, interim provost; José-Luis Riera, vice president for student life; and Caleb Everett, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. As higher education evolves, the conversation will center on integrity as a foundation for undergraduate learning and development.
The 2026 convening is supported by a three-year Institutional Impact Grant from the Educating Character Initiative in the Program for Leadership and Character at Wake Forest University. Through this grant, the UD Coalition on Character Development will:
- Offer mini-grants up to $3,000 to support projects focused on virtues like intellectual curiosity, leadership and civility;
- Measure student impact through a partnership with UD’s Center for Research in Education & Social Policy (CRESP)
The convening will also feature interactive sessions, panel discussions and round table workshops designed to foster dialogue, share best practices and strengthen coordination to advance character development across the institution. The event reflects UD’s commitment to student development and preparing graduates to lead with character.
